Bottom of ForAn independent, non-profit, medical research organization in San Diego seeks a Grants Analyst. We are a stable organization with a strong mission and vision and are seeking someone who wants to grow professionally in his/her career.  The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational and communication skills, have the ability to learn quickly, research and resolve problems independently, work under time constraints and meet deadlines.

Job Description:

·         The Grants Analyst is responsible for comprehensive post-award fiscal management, administration and reporting of funding sources for assigned Principal Investigators (PIs) to sponsoring agencies. 

·         This position provides fiscal compliance oversight managing PI’s research grant portfolios and/or start-up funds to assure that they operate within the terms and conditions for federal, state and private grants, as well as Institute policies and regulations. 

·         Responsible for advising PIs on all financial matters, including new lab recruiting, agency requirements, policies, spending trends and portfolio forecast projections.  Interprets agency guidelines and ensures compliance with award financial reporting and cost reimbursement requirements. 

·         Analyzes and processes grant budgets, requisitions and expenses, and ensures that PI’s receive accurate and timely information. 

·         Additional duties include preparation of monthly financial statements, agency reports, award close outs, cost transfers, allocation of labor distributions for salary and effort reporting and reviews of PIs P-card statement activities .

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree in business administration, or equivalent with a minimum of 4 years experience in accounting.
  • Strong, demonstrated knowledge of post-award grants and solid analytical skills
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and non federal agency requirements and regulations for sponsored research funds including OMB A-110, A-122 and A-133 and Cost Accounting Standards is preferred. 
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and use of financial systems/databases.

• Do you have experience with OMB A-110, A-122 and 133 experience?

• How many internal relationships have you managed (with scientists, principal investigators, etc)?

• How many total grants were you responsible for and how large were they?

• How many government grants were you responsible for? How many private grants?

• Within the government grants, how familiar are you with the rules and regulations of both state and federal requirements?
