Senior Finance Lead, Accounting Policy and Research

Serve as a subject matter expert within the Accounting Department documenting accounting policy and research, including technical accounting white papers for non-routine transactions and recently issued/adopted accounting developments; serve as the primary liaison and stock option administrator for the firm’s various equity programs and assist with the related accounting, tax and financial reporting requirements for share-based compensation and related disclosures.

Essential Functions:
•Research recently issued/adopted accounting and financial reporting developments, document and update the firm’s accounting policies and procedures and write technical accounting white papers for non-routine transactions.
•Administer the firm’s various stock and option programs, facilitate requests and inquiries from the firm’s stock and option holders, and assist in the compilation of monthly, quarterly and annual accounting, tax and financial reporting requirements.
•Evaluate and assess the firm’s goodwill and intangible assets for impairment, compile supporting documentation for allocations and modeling assumptions, facilitate requests to/from the third-party expert and coordinate the issuance of the valuation report.
Other Job Duties:
•Document SOX internal control policies and procedures regarding the firm’s stock administration, goodwill and intangible asset and financial reporting processes.
•Serve as a subject matter expert for technical accounting matters and work with various other members within the Finance department on ad-hoc projects and analyses.
•Mentor senior/staff accountants within External Reporting, provide feedback and career development opportunities.
•Participate in firm-wide initiatives and cross-functional projects that directly impact or relate to External Reporting.

Qualifications:

•Minimum Education Required:  Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance
•Minimum Experience Required: 5 years of experience, preferably in the broker-dealer industry
•Licenses/Certifications Required/Preferred: CPA required
•Software/Systems Skills Required/Preferred: Microsoft Office applications required.
•This position interacts with the VP of External Reporting, Chief Accounting Officer, Head of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and various other VPs and SVPs within the Finance department.
•Strong level of interaction with various members of Legal and Human Capital
•Strong communication and analytical skills and ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and activities.  
•Strong leadership, interpersonal and management skills are essential for this role.
